Oreo Cheesecake

My daughter's graduation is only a few weeks away. I think an Oreo Cheesecake would make an amazing, delectable and delicious addition to our celebration party menu! Soft and creamy and filled with chocolate, edged in whip cream and topped with Oreos, this cheesecake is sure to please. A feast for the taste buds.

Marcela, an industrial designer from Poland, shares this amazing recipe on her web site, 'Torta Della Figlia'. Marcela offers recipes full of colour and rich in flavour. You can find recipes for cookies, cakes, salads, pastas and frittatas. She even has a recipe for spinach pasta, a pistachio tofu cheesecake and of course, this incredible Oreo Cheesecake! Recently accepted into New York University, Marcela is coming to the city that birthed the very first Oreo.

Did you know that March 6 is National Oreo Day? Neither did I and I am so disappointed I missed it! Oreo is in it's 103rd year of production, with the very first one made in New York City in 1912. Known as the world's best-selling cookies, they were first sold at 30 cents per pound. At one time, they came in a lemon meringue flavour. In China, you can buy them in a green tea ice cream flavour and in Argentina, dulche de leche and banana flavour! The original Oreo recipe called for pig lard, and after much demand and a 3 year process, Oreos are now kosher and still delicious! It is said you can tell a lot about person by how they eat an Oreo. Do you dunk, twist, or bite? Dunkers are adventurous and social. Twisters are sensitive, artistic and trendy. Biters are easy going and self-confident.

One Oreo takes 59 minutes to make. This delicious Oreo Cheesecake takes a little longer and it most definitely worth the time.

Don't you just dessert recipes that combine two of your favorite things? I mean Oreo's and cheesecake all in one recipe, it's enough to make your mouth water right on the spot. This dessert recipe also looks really good, a great recipe to serve when you are having guests over. This Oreo Cheesecake is a bit of a process, but it is definitely worth it! After you have prepared the base of the cheesecake you will want to start working on the cheesecake filling recipe. Preheat your oven to 160 degrees Fahrenheit, and place the cheese in an electric mixer bowl that has the paddle attachment. Now mix the cheese on medium speed until it is smooth and creamy. To the creamed cheese add some sugar, cornstarch, cream and vanilla extract and beat for another couple of minutes. After this you can add the eggs slowly and beat after adding each egg to the mix. Mix until smooth. Now fold in the crushed Oreos, and pour the cream cheese into the pan overtop of the bottom layer of the cheesecake recipe.

In a preheated oven bake for approximately 55 minutes. You will know that the cheesecake is baked when the cake is just a bit jiggly, but not a soupy look. At this point you can turn the oven off, but you will leave the cheesecake in the oven for another hour. Make sure not to open the oven, let the kids know that they can't peek. Then you can take out of the oven and chill overnight.
